- What is the TSI Assessment?
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Rules require that all students in Texas public colleges and universities complete the TSI Assessment. The purpose of the TSI Assessment is to determine a student's degree of college readiness. - Who must complete the TSI Assessment?
All students seeking an Associate's Degree and certificate programs that are 43 semester credit hours or more are required to take the TSI Assessment, unless exemptions are met. Certificate programs with less than 43 semester credit hours and requiring Math and/or Writing will require a student to take certain parts of the TSI Assessment as a prerequisite, unless exemptions are met. Before a student can take the TSI Assessment, the TSI Pre-Assessment Activity must be completed. - How do I register for the TSI Assessment?
To register for the TSI Assessment, please see the cashier's office in the Business Office to pay for the exam. You must bring your receipt and Testing Center Exam Form to the Testing Center in Building T1 Room 106. Retests are allowed with no limit or waiting period. For additional information, call the Testing Center at 409-984-6244 or email testing@lamarpa.edu. - What if I am TSI compliant from another institution?
You will need to provide an official transcript from that institution. - What if I have high test scores on the SAT, ACT, or TAKS and the five-year time limit
has passed?
You will need to take the TSI Assessment test. - Is TSI an admissions requirement?
No, however, you may not register for any classes until you have tested or provided proper documentation of TSI compliance. - When should I take the TSI Assessment test?
You will need to test prior to attending.
