Kinesiology
The Associate of Arts degree in Kinesiology parallels the first two years of study of Kinesiology baccalaureate programs at state colleges and universities in Texas. The associate degree requires 48 semester credit hours of courses from the Core Curriculum, plus 15 semester credit hours of kinesiology.
Program Outcomes
- Describe fundamentals of Kinesiology, including anatomy and Physiology, health promotion, physiological response to exercise, and the mechanics of movement.
- Apply scientific principles to evaluate the effectiveness of physical activity and
conditioning programs. - Model behavior consistent with that of a Kinesiology professional.
Critical Thinking Skills: Creative thinking, innovation, inquiry, and analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of information, using technology as appropriate.
Communication Skills: Effective development, interpretation, and expression of ideas through written, oral, and visual communication.
Empirical and Quantitative Skills: Manipulation and analysis of numerical data or observable facts resulting in informed conclusions.
Teamwork:Ability to be flexible and to consider different points of view and to work effectively with others, taking the initiative when appropriate, to support a shared purpose or goal.
Social Responsibility: Intercultural competence, knowledge of civic responsibility, and the ability to engage effectively in regional, national, and global communities.
Personal Responsibility: A strong work ethic and the ability to connect choices, actions, and consequences to ethical decision-making.

A student completing the LSCPA curriculum is considered Core Complete.
No more than 60 60-66 semester credit hours (SCH) from LSCPA will be applied to a Bachelor degree at Lamar University.
An additional 60 SCH or more must be completed to satisfy the bachelor degree requirements.
