Nick Benton, a graduate of Lamar State College Port Arthur, is being honored by Entergy at the October 17th New Orleans Saints game.

Lamar State College Port Arthur graduate Nick Benton will be recognized as Entergy Texas’ Lineman of the Game at the New Orleans Saints vs. Denver Broncos matchup in New Orleans on October 17. For each Saints home game, Entergy and the Saints recognize a line or pipe worker for excellent job performance, commitment to safety, community involvement and more.

Nick grew up in Port Arthur and attended Texas A&M-Commerce, obtaining a bachelor's degree in health science. He then attended Lamar State College Port Arthur, earning an associate degree in Instrumentation Technology.

Before joining Entergy Texas, he worked in the refineries in the industrial and environmental sectors. He’s been a team member for five years, and currently serves as a substation technician for the East Substation.

“Working for Entergy Texas, I appreciate that I am able to help serve our local communities and that the company provides opportunities for career advancement,” he said.

Nick values that the company provides in-class training, as well as real-scenario, on-the-job training from experienced foremen and technicians. His primary job responsibilities are to safely maintain, repair and ensure the reliability of grid equipment.

“I am most proud when a stranger sees the Entergy logo on your chest, and thanks you for the work you do,” he said. “I don’t need attaboys for doing my job, but it’s always very appreciated to know others notice and acknowledge your commitment.”
