The Office of Student Activities at Lamar State College - Port Arthur is the center of non-academic activities.
Located on the second floor of the Student Center, Student Activities provides many services to students and plans and coordinates major campus events.
Parking tags and student IDs are issued by the office of Student Activities.
||Student Activities works very closely with the Student Government Association (which has an office on the second floor also) to provide students with
entertainment and other activities.
Entertainment for the year is reviewed and selected by the students, through SGA, at the annual South central Regional NACA Convention to bring the particular acts to campus.
Student Activities also coordinates other events, such as community service and spirit events.
The Student Activities Office facilitates the creation and maintenance of various student organizations. These organizations vary in interest from
purely academic, relating to specific technical and academic programs, to more peculiar interests, such as addressing the needs and interests of the older than average students or interests in area history.
Currently there are 12 active student organizations. Each recognized student organization has its own faculty sponsor, which ensures the longevity of the organization by being a constant, stable resource.
The Director of Student Activities serves as the sponsor to the Student Government Association, which serves as the umbrella organization for all recognized student organizations.
