Lamar State College - Port Arthur is a comprehensive two-year state supported institution offering freshman and sophomore level work in numerous academic and technical-vocational fields.  The city of Port Arthur, located 90 miles East of Houston, has its roots in oil refining, chemical production and shipping.  More recently, the College is supporting efforts to diversify the local economy and is playing a major training and education role in the development of several major criminal justice facilities in Southeast Texas.

Human Resources

The function of the Human Resources Office is to design, implement, and maintain a program of personnel administration for the institution; a program which adequately defined and explained for each employee of the college and operates with dignity and respect for all individuals.

Under the direction of the President, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for the development and administration of sound personnel statutes, regulations, and policies. Major functional areas include benifits, records maintenance, employment, classification/compensation, workers compensation, safety, risk management, and employee relations.

The Human Resources Office serves the faculty, staff, students, and administration in their programs of teaching, extension, and support services. They share in a commitment with faculty to a mission characterized by student learning, diversity, and community service.

Selection Process Information

To be considered an applicant for a position of Lamar State College – Port Arthur, all materials requested in the position announcement must be received.
